Washington, D.C. - Esta semana, mujeres inmigrantes se unieron a grupos comunitarios en Boston, Nueva York, Denver, San Francisco y otras ciudades para presentar y entregar las solicitudes de información a través de la Ley de Libertad de Información (FOIA, por sus siglas en inglés) a la Agencia de Inmigración y Aduanas (ICE). Considerando crecientes rumores sobre redadas masivas planeadas por la agencia, las peticiones de FOIA demandan detalles sobre la planificación y ejecución de dichas actividades así como los procedimientos para identificar y capturar a individuos.

Washington, D.C. - This week immigrant women joined community groups in Boston, New York, Denver, San Francisco, and other cities to file and deliver Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). With rumors circulating of massive raids planned by the agency, the FOIA requests demand details about the planning and execution of enforcement activities as well as the procedures for targeting and capturing individuals.

Denver, CO (July 24, 2017) – On Wednesday, June 22, community members were enraged and saddened when Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained Cristina, Colorado mother and community member, when she attended her routine check-in. Cristina is one more of the victims of ICE’s “silent raids,” as the agency is targeting immigrants during their check-ins with ICE field offices, or during any opportunity they have to detain undocumented immigrants,even those who are survivors of violence and abuse.

Washington, D.C. - Late last night, Department of Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly announced he will revoke Obama’s executive action to protect millions of undocumented parents known as Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA). The announcement came together with the decision to maintain protections for undocumented youth under the original Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program for the time being.
