The Trump administration is trying to get rid of Temporary Protected Status (TPS), a federal program that protects over 430,000 immigrants from 13 different countries devastated by war or natural disasters. Just yesterday the Administration terminated the program for 2,500 Nicaraguans who will be forced to leave their homes and communities soon.
Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of immigrants who have been here for years or decades, and have made their home in the US thanks to TPS protections, are currently living in limbo not knowing when Trump will tell them they have to leave their families behind.
Congress can take steps to end this fear and uncertainty, but they need to hear from us! Call your representative in Congress today at (202) 224-3121 and tell them to pass legislation that creates a solution for ALL families who could lose TPS.
Here's what you can say when you call:
TPS recipients have been integral members of our communities for years, or, in many cases, decades, contributing their talents to our nation and our economy. They are parents to nearly 273,000 U.S. citizen children who would be devastated if their families were ripped apart, They are also women working as caregivers and domestic workers, taking care of our families, homes, and loved ones.
