3/25/2014 - 8 women from the Santa Clara County Commission on the Status of Women fasted as part of the Women's Fast for Families. We panned the fast for this day to coincide with the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors' presentation of a ceremonial resolution proclaiming March as Women’s History Month and commending the Commission on the significant policy work it has brought to the board on comprehensive immigration reform.
The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Policy Resolution presented by the County Commission on the Status of Women. Their adoption of this means that the County will send a letter to Congress in support of CIR, and when CIR passes we will be poised to implement the law in ways that meet the distinct needs of women and families. Thank you Supervisors for taking this stand and thanks to the commissioners who have advocated fiercely for our immigrant women and families.
